Common Ground, Newly called ACRE Agriculture Community for Resources and Education, is a university club cantered around sustainable local agriculture, in which students can participate in growing food and share information and connections. We are students who recognize the importance of local food systems for sustainability and health. We are fans of permaculture, gardening, foraging, and reagional food systems. We hope to be a hub growing the good food movement.
Starting in 2015, we will be growing on raided beds near the Greenhouse, and use the food for educational activities in the Greenhouse this fall around food preservation, cooking, dyes, and indigenous crops.
We have a large plot of land at Lone Rock Point, which we be gardening at this summer! We invite you to come and help at the garden there this summer and then share in the harvest. This is UVM's educational student garden, and all are welcome to plant and weed and harvest. At this plot we hope to grow the soil health and make our garden land more productive.
